More about The Pagoda!
Designed for 3 1/2 years through to 5 years
A consistent team of fully qualified teachers provide a stimulating, adaptable, child initiated learning environment at The Pagoda.
While the endorsement of children's own individual interests and ideas are still paramount, the teachers provide opportunities for group work. This focuses on fostering the development of confidence, perseverance and responsibility, allowing children to practice communication and self help skills.
ERO report 2010; ‘Competent and experienced teachers present high-quality learning experiences for children. The programme responds to children's interests and includes Maori perspectives and aspects of literacy and numeracy.'
ERO report 2010; 'Teachers identify children's learning and progress, and share this information with children and with parents, who are respected partners in their children's education and care.'
“Koru Club” includes these features, as well as aiming to initiate more in depth preparation for school. It offers some work with books, reading, numbers and print.
We have developed strong relationships with local schools and enjoy regular familiarizing visits to new entrants' classrooms.
Our involvement in an MOE based ICT research program has lead us to explore ways in which ICT can be used effectively within an Early Childhood learning environment. Therefore, some of our interactions and documentation have expanded to incorporate a range of multimedia.
